The Ground Rules

The short version of what you're agreeing to by using this site or calling our line. Worth a skim before you dial.

Last refreshed: January 1, 2026

Browsing this site or calling the line means you're okay with the rules below. They're not long — give them a quick read.

Who We Are

My Utility Switch is a phone-first helpline. That's the whole job. We're not a power company, a state office, a bank, an underwriter, or part of any utility's customer service team — unless we've spelled out otherwise in writing.

What This Service Actually Is

When you reach out, here's what you're getting:

  • A conversation about your bill
  • Help thinking through payment-related questions
  • Pointers on who to call for what
  • General talk about your account situation
  • A walkthrough on how switching usually works
  • An ear for whatever else is utility-shaped

What you're not getting is a promise. We can't guarantee approval, a particular rate, a successful switch, or any other outcome on the provider's end — those decisions live with them.

Your Side of the Deal

Be straight with us when you share information — the help we give is only as good as what we've got to work with.

And once we've talked: double-check anything important with your real provider. Their numbers and policies are the ones that count.

Where Our Liability Ends

If something goes sideways indirectly because of this site or a call, we're not on the hook for incidental or consequential damages. That's the lawyer-flavored way of saying: we'll do our best, but we're not insuring your outcomes.

Pricing, approvals, rate availability, and final decisions belong to the utility company and whichever rules they have to follow.

Names That Aren't Ours

We may mention specific utilities, brands, or product names just so callers know what we're talking about. None of that means we're affiliated — those marks belong to whoever owns them.

How to Use the Site

Don't try to break it, scrape it, jam it up, or get into places you aren't meant to. Standard internet manners.

If These Rules Change

We may rewrite parts of this page when how we operate shifts. New versions show up here, and the date at the top moves with them — no separate announcement.

Which Laws Apply

U.S. laws and regulations are the framework for everything on this page.
